UVA Lacrosse Player Trades Wall Street for Harlem lacrosse

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – While many University of Virginia men’s lacrosse players spent their summer pursuing internships on Wall Street, Tim myers took a different path to New York City.
Myers, a fourth-year midfielder, dedicated approximately five weeks to working with Harlem Lacrosse in the Bronx, N.Y. It was a unique experience, setting him apart from many of his peers.
“It was awesome, and it’s so different from what almost all my other friends did,” said Myers, a graduate of st.Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville.
Upon returning home, Myers shared his reflections on the summer with Virginia head coach Lars Tiffany in a text message. his experience profoundly impacted him.
“Working with Harlem was the best thing I’ve ever done,” Myers told Tiffany. “It gives such a deep appreciation for all that we have and how lucky we truly are. Seeing how crucial lacrosse is for the kids is just so powerful.”
Harlem Lacrosse was established in 2008 by Simon Cataldo,a UVA School of Law graduate. Cataldo’s vision was to use lacrosse as a tool to support at-risk students in New York City.
