Von der Leyen Backs Minimum Age for Social Media Access

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen today supported calls too establish a minimum age for access to social media, as reported by Politico.
Several European Union countries “believe that the time has come for the” implementation of a digital minimum age “for access to social media. And I have to tell you that as a mother of seven children and grandmother of five, I share their opinion,” she stated during an event at the UN General Assembly in New York.
In recent months, EU nations including Greece, France, and Denmark have advocated for a minimum age, citing the potential harm social media poses to minors.
