Investigation Timeline
The investigation began after Madison Fields was reported missing. After her family publicly shared their concerns, Colerain Police contacted the Ohio Attorney General, who upgraded Madison’s status to endangered. This prompted the involvement of the FBI and BCI.
Investigators identified a person of interest from Tennessee and tracked him to the Florida hotel. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. His name has not yet been released.
Earlier in the investigation, authorities focused on a man in Cheektowaga, New York, after surveillance video showed Madison entering a black Jeep Grand Cherokee rented by him. He was indicted on charges of transportation to engage in criminal sexual activity, but was not directly charged in connection with Madison’s disappearance. WLWT reported.
