Mitsubishi Revives Grandis Nameplate with Renault Symbioz Rebadge

Mitsubishi is bringing back the Grandis nameplate for the European market, but with a twist. The new Grandis is a rebadged version of the Renault Symbioz, a compact SUV longer than the Captur, set to debut in July 2025.

A Familiar Name, A New Form

The original Mitsubishi Grandis, a seven-seater minivan, was sold from 2003 to 2011. The revived Grandis targets “young families” and offers a more practical alternative to the Mitsubishi ASX, which shares its platform with the Renault Captur. The new generation will largely mirror the Renault Symbioz in terms of exterior and interior design, with a length of 4,413 mm (173.7 inches).

Design and Features

Although largely based on the Symbioz, the Grandis will feature a redesigned grille and a refreshed iteration of Mitsubishi’s “Dynamic Shield” front design. The interior is expected to be roomy and versatile, offering a boot capacity ranging from 492 to 624 liters (17.4 to 22 cubic feet) thanks to a sliding rear bench. It will include a 10.4-inch infotainment system with Google built-in and a full suite of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Powertrain Options

The new Mitsubishi Grandis will be available with both mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains, sourced from Renault.

Shared Architecture

The Grandis rides on the CMF-B architecture, which is similarly used by the Mitsubishi Colt and ASX, the Renault Clio, Captur, Symbioz, and Arkana, the Nissan Micra and Juke, and the entire Dacia lineup.

Pricing and Availability

As of February 2026, pricing for the Mitsubishi Grandis varies by market. In the Czech Republic, the mild-hybrid 1.3 DI-T Mild Hybrid starts at 594,760 CZK, while the 1.8 Hybrid version, with a combined output of 116 kW and an automatic multi-mode transmission, starts at 798,760 CZK. Auto Revue reports a price difference of approximately 2,000 to 3,000 EUR between the Grandis and the Renault Symbioz depending on trim level.

Marketing and Brand Ambassador

Mitsubishi Czech Republic has partnered with Czech singer Markéta Konvičková as a brand ambassador for the Grandis, highlighting her image as a symbol of energy, authenticity, and family values. Autoindustriya reports that Konvičková will focus on communication through social networks, sharing her experiences with the car in everyday life.
