Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Announces Free Spring Break Family Events

Montgomery County Parks and Recreation invites residents and visitors to enjoy a full week of free family programming during Spring Break, from March 16–20, 2026.1 The events will be held at Downtown Commons and the Wade Bourne Nature Center at Rotary Park.

Event Locations and Schedule

Downtown Commons (215 Legion St.)

  • Monday, March 16 – Lunch on the Lawn: A lunchtime gathering from 11 a.m. To 1 p.m. Featuring outdoor seating, yard games, and local food trucks like Pop & Dogs and Bronx Mystique Deli.2
  • Wednesday, March 18 – Hooked on Science: A science presentation in partnership with the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library, featuring educator Jason Lindsey, from 2:00 p.m. To 3:00 p.m.1
  • Friday, March 20 – Spring Break Bash: Festivities conclude from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. With inflatables, food trucks, yard games, and community activities.1

Wade Bourne Nature Center at Rotary Park (2308 Rotary Park Drive)

  • Tuesday, March 17 – Animal Myths & Truths: Programs at 10:30 a.m. And 12:30 p.m. Presented by the Land Between the Lakes Woodlands Nature Station, featuring live animals and folklore.1 A drop-in activity is available from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, March 17 – Turtle Time: Meet Penny the turtle at 4:00 p.m. As she gets exercise.2
  • Wednesday, March 18 – Snakes of Tennessee: Programs at 10:30 a.m. And 12:30 p.m. To learn about Tennessee snakes, including venomous species, and meet “Buggie” the Native Corn Snake.2 A drop-in activity is available from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, March 18 – DIY Gardening Series: Learn about soil and composting from 6:00 p.m.1
  • Thursday, March 19 – Neon Glow: Biofluorescence in Nature: A wildflower walk with a naturalist at 10:00 a.m., followed by flowering tea. Programs at 10:30 a.m. And 12:30 p.m. Featuring live animals that glow in the dark.1 A drop-in activity is available from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, March 19 – Turtle Time: Meet Penny the turtle at 4:00 p.m. As she gets exercise.2
  • Friday, March 20 – Why ZOO We Do It: Programs at 10:30 a.m. And 12:30 p.m. Exploring the history and role of modern zoos.1 Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will supply away books at 10:00 a.m. (first-come, first-served). A drop-in activity is available from 2:00 p.m. To 5:00 p.m.
