The Saskatchewan Alliance have announced the signing of guard Jalen porter, adding a fresh offensive spark to their lineup. Porter joins the team as they navigate the Canadian Elite basketball League (CEBL) season, currently holding a 5-4 record.

From Collegiate Success to Professional Dominance

Porter recently completed his collegiate career at California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, graduating in 2024. During his final season with the Broncos, the versatile guard showcased his scoring ability, averaging 12.8 points, alongside 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 26 games. This performance built upon a foundation of consistent contribution, demonstrating his ability to impact the game on both ends of the court.

However,Porter’s talent truly blossomed during a brief but impactful stint overseas. Prior to joining the Alliance, he played for Depiro Rabat Imtarfa in Malta, were he quickly established himself as a dominant force. In just 16 games, porter averaged an notable 23.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.8 steals, and 1.2 blocks – numbers that highlight his all-around game and ability to control multiple facets of play. To put this in perspective,his rebounding average in Malta exceeded that of several starting forwards in the CEBL this season.

Roster Adjustment to Accommodate New Addition

To make room for Porter on the roster, the Alliance have released forward Anthony Walker. CEBL regulations limit teams to a maximum of four non-Canadian players, necessitating the move. Walker contributed valuable minutes in nine games, averaging 9.9 points,4.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 18.8 minutes per game.
