doordash Driver in Coma After Campus Fight
A food delivery driver is in a coma following a fight with a university of Idaho fraternity student this week on the Moscow campus.
The moscow Police department responded to a battery report shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday near Idaho and Deakin avenues in the Greek life area of campus, according to a police news release. officers discovered one man, identified by a friend as 26-year-old Austen Dawson, with serious injuries.
Police Chief Anthony Dahlinger stated dawson, a DoorDash driver, was delivering food in the old greek Row area when the physical altercation occurred. Dahlinger indicated police are investigating the cause of the fight, which appeared to be a “hand-to-hand” encounter with no weapons involved.He did not disclose the names of the individuals involved.
Dawson was initially taken to Gritman Medical Center in Moscow before being airlifted to a hospital in Lewiston, Dahlinger reported. He did not provide an update on Dawson’s current condition.
The other individual, identified by UI spokeswoman Jodi Walker as a student, sustained minor injuries during the fight.
The police are currently investigating the incident. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed, the police release stated.
Walker communicated via text message that the university’s thoughts are with dawson.
“We do not condone violence nor behaviors that put others at risk,” she wrote.
Walker added that UI has a student code of conduct that all students are expected to follow.
