Multiple Pets Die in Moscow, Idaho Mobile Home Fire
A fire at a mobile home in Moscow, Idaho, last week resulted in the deaths of at least four dogs and several cats, according to the Moscow Volunteer Fire Department. The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday at 603 W. Palouse River Dr., on the south end of town.
Details of the Fire
Fire Chief Brian Nickerson stated that approximately 17 pets, primarily dogs and cats, were inside the home when the fire broke out. Firefighters were able to rescue 10 dogs, with seven transported to local animal hospitals. Sadly, four of those dogs succumbed to their injuries. The remaining three dogs were released from veterinary care the following day.
Several cats also perished in the fire, and the whereabouts of other animals remain unknown. The home, which was completely destroyed by the blaze, was being used as an animal boarding facility by its owner.
Cause of the Fire
The fire was determined to be accidental, caused by an overloaded electrical circuit. No human injuries were reported.
