Tragedy Strikes Mumbai: 4-Year-Old Boy Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident
A heartbreaking incident has shaken the city of Mumbai, India, as a four-year-old boy tragically lost his life after being struck by a speeding car.

The accident occurred near Ambedkar College in the Wadala area on Sunday. According to the police, the victim, whose family lives on a footpath, was playing on the road when he was hit by the speeding vehicle.
“The incident occurred near Ambedkar College in Wadala,” confirmed police officials. They added that the victim’s family resides on the footpath, and his father works as a laborer.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Bhushan Gole, reportedly lost control of his Hyundai Creta while reversing. Authorities have arrested Gole and initiated legal proceedings against him.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver, Bhushan Gole, was not under the influence of alcohol,” a police official revealed to PTI. Gole resides in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
This tragic incident comes as a stark reminder of road safety concerns plaguing Mumbai.
Just days prior, another horrifying accident involving a BEST electric bus claimed seven lives and injured 40 others, highlighting the urgency for addressing road safety issues in the city.
The incident in Wadala comes just days after another fatal accident, where a driver of an electric bus, operated by BEST, lost control, resulting in a collision that killed seven people and injured 40 others. This incident has further intensified concerns regarding the safety of roads in the city.
Recent data released by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways reveals Maharashtra’s alarmingly high number of road accidents, ranking amongst the states with the most fatalities in recent years. Over 7 lakh road accident deaths were recorded across India between 2018-2022, with Maharashtra accounting for a significant proportion.
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest fatalities (1,08,882) followed by Tamil Nadu (84,316) and Maharashtra (66,370).
