Position Summary

This role is responsible for managing and coordinating existing and new Natural Gas Services (NGS) customer accounts. This includes managing supply and control needs, providing customer service, supporting gas system expansions, and leading contract negotiations and revisions. The Account Manager will build relationships with existing and new customers – including Local Distribution Companies (LDCs), large industrial customers, gas marketers, and gas producers – to ensure products and services are delivered effectively to the customer and profitably for the company.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Consistently build and maintain positive working relationships with existing and potential new customers to understand their operations and identify potential needs and solutions. Serve as the primary point of contact between Xcel Energy, its operating groups, and customers to provide specialized services.
  • Identify, evaluate, develop markets for, and sell products and services utilizing gas facilities owned or controlled by the company, including managing the accounting portion of project funds and applying them to the appropriate job classification. These products include gas transportation services (both PUC and FERC regulated), gathering and processing services, and new system connections.
  • Negotiate contracts as needed for all products and services provided to customers to maximize revenue for the company while complying with regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate regularly with other corporate personnel regarding business requirements, opportunities, and emerging trends. This requires constant coordination with operating and maintenance groups to ensure high-quality and reliable service to customers.
  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to existing services and create new products and services to proactively meet and exceed customer needs.
  • Evaluate the company’s competitive position in the marketplace and make recommendations to management concerning strategic issues to ensure the company remains competitively positioned to capture opportunities.
  • Attend regional industry conferences to maintain and develop contacts with current and prospective customers. Visit customers and key industry leaders to maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and developing industry and regulatory trends.
  • Monitor past due receivables and imbalances, and take appropriate corrective action to ensure the company’s risk in the business is managed to an acceptable level.
