NEC Lavie X14 Laptop Launches in Japan With Panther Lake Chip and 30-Hour Battery
NEC released the Lavie X14 in Japan, introducing a 14-inch laptop that weighs approximately 1 kilogram, measures 18.8 millimeters in thickness, and features a battery life rated up to 30 hours for video playback. The machine targets the domestic Japanese consumer market with an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor.
Intel Panther Lake Performance and Hardware Specifications
The laptop runs on an Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor built on the Panther Lake architecture, featuring an eight-core configuration with four Cougar Cove performance cores and four Darkmont efficiency cores. NEC pairs this processor with 32 gigabytes of LPDDR5X RAM and a 512-gigabyte solid-state drive. In Cinebench 2024 testing, the system records a score of roughly 650 points, which is claimed to be about 5 percent higher than Apple M3. For graphics, the device relies on Intel Graphics Xe3 with four graphics cores, delivering performance comparable to an AMD Radeon 760M GPU.
Battery Capacity and Display Features
Energy management centers on a 99.9-watt-hour battery designed to sustain video playback for up to 30 hours, while idle conditions extend endurance to 51 hours. Visual output comes from a 14-inch IPS touchscreen panel carrying a WUXGA resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. Physical connections include two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, an HDMI port, a microSD card slot, an Ethernet port, and Wi-Fi 7 compatibility.
Pricing and Regional Availability
NEC prices the Lavie X14 at 364,870 yen, translating to roughly 40 million Indonesian rupiah, for buyers in the Japanese market. Availability outside Japan remains limited, as the Lavie product family primarily serves domestic consumers.
