Nelly Korda gets awkward in Caleb Pressley Sundae Conversation interview

Nelly Korda balances LPGA break with deadpan podcast appearance

LPGA world No. 1 Nelly Korda spent her time away from competitive play sitting down with interviewer Caleb Pressley for a segment on YouTube’s “Sundae Conversation,” Golfweek.usatoday.com reported. Korda is currently in the middle of a two-month break from competition while the LPGA continues a month-long swing in Asia, and her fall podcast run has exposed her to new audiences on a channel with 1.2 million subscribers. Pressley, formerly of Barstool Sports, is known for a deadpan, off-balance interview style that has previously featured guests like Kevin Hart, Matthew McConaughey, and Doja Cat.

Alcohol consumption and binoculars spark awkward exchanges

The conversation quickly turned to unexpected topics, including a lighthearted inquiry about alcohol consumption on the golf course. Korda chuckled and clarified that she does not imbibe in excess either on or off the course, emphasizing her dedication to proper nutrition and hydration. Pressley then introduced binoculars as a prop, prompting Korda to admit that she previously used a pair while she lived in a condo community to observe people from her condo community. I used to spy down on people, Korda said, before clarifying with a laugh that she only watched pedestrians on the street rather than looking into other apartments.

Coffee lovers and personal vices on Sundae Conversation

Wearing a ‘Coffee Lovers Club’ hat instead of her usual Goldman Sachs cap, Korda discussed banking and personal habits with the host. When Pressley asked which part of her body people should stare at to choose a bank, Korda initially pointed to her mouth before joking about her missing hat. When Pressley pressed her to admit to personal vices, Korda turned the tables on him. I thought this was a friendship, you’re learning a lot about me and I’m trying to learn about you, Korda said, adding that she was letting her guard down to be more extroverted for the show.

Return to competition at The Annika

Korda’s media appearances coincide with her extended hiatus from professional tournaments. She returns to competitive play later this month at The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican, held in Belleair, Florida. The event marks her return to the LPGA schedule following the tour’s Asian swing.
