Netflix has released an animated lyric video for “Someone to Hold,” JENNIE’s new single from Steps, the streamer’s upcoming animated adventure about Cinderella’s stepsisters. The song, the pop star’s first for an animated film, premiered on Netflix’s Tudum alongside the single’s release, Animation World Network reported. Steps arrives on Netflix November 20, 2026.
Directed by Alyce Tzue, a Student Academy Award gold medal winner, and John Ripa, co-director of Raya and the Last Dragon, the film stars Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu as the stepsisters Lilith and Margot. Amanda Seyfried voices Cinderella, with Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother and Nikki Glaser as the villainous Priscilla, Netflix said. Daniel Radcliffe, Young Mazino, Peter Dinklage, and WWE star Damian Priest round out the cast.
In the story, Lilith, tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and crashes the royal ball with Margot, dooming the kingdom to the rule of Priscilla, Just Jared reported. Lilith then joins forces with Cinderella to battle biker trolls, outrun henchmen, and escape the Screaming Woods to save the kingdom and their relationship as sisters.
JENNIE Calls “Someone to Hold” Her First Animated Film Song
“I am so excited to join the Steps family, and it was really fun making my first song for an animated film,” JENNIE said in a statement. “I love how much heart and personality the characters have, and I’m so happy I got to be a little part of their world.”
Songwriter and producer Justin Tranter called the track “pure danceable joy,” telling Just Jared that “the story in Steps lends itself beautifully to a variety of voices and sonics, and the main throughline in the soundtrack is dance music.” Rose Gray, Amanda Seyfried, and EMEI also contribute original songs to the soundtrack, Netflix said.
Ali Wong and Stephanie Hsu Voice the Stepsisters
Wong voices Lilith and Hsu voices Margot in the film, which reimagines the Cinderella story from the stepsisters’ perspective. Radcliffe plays the unconventional Prince, while Young Mazino voices Gef, whom Lilith calls “a really hot troll” in the teaser, and Peter Dinklage voices Roderick, described as a murderous man-nanny, Netflix said.

Midler described her Fairy Godmother as “a little bit of a bumbler, and she’s a little bit of a schemer” with good intentions. Priest, voicing the intimidating Cracktor, said, “I think people are going to be surprised by how much of a show-stealing character he is.”
