FIFA President Gianni Infantino echoed the commitment to the Women’s game, stating “Netflix has shown a very strong level of commitment to growing women’s football. This agreement sends a strong message about the real value of the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the global women’s game.”
More Than Just Matches
Netflix’s coverage of the World Cup will go beyond live games. The streaming platform will produce exclusive documentary series that delve into the lives of top players, their journeys, and the global rise of women’s football. This immersive content aims to further engage viewers and shed light on the captivating stories behind the sport.
The 2027 World Cup will be hosted in Brazil, following last year’s tournament in Australia and New Zealand. Spain triumphed in the 2023 competition, while the USA was eliminated by Sweden in the round of 16.
With Netflix’s resources and global reach, the move is expected to significantly elevate the visibility and appreciation of women’s football worldwide.
