Latest Berlin Police Chase Leads to Teen Arrest, Vehicle Break-in Investigation Ongoing
New Berlin, WI – A 17-year-old from Milwaukee was arrested early Saturday morning, February 28, following a police chase connected to a series of vehicle break-ins, according to the New Berlin Police Department. A second chase ensued shortly after, but the suspects remain at large.
Vehicle Break-ins Prompt Initial Response
Officers responded to reports of vehicle break-ins in the area of Coachlight Drive and Greenfield Avenue around 4:19 a.m. On Saturday. Investigation revealed that at least one vehicle had been stolen and several others had been entered FOX6 Milwaukee.
First Police Chase and Arrest
Even as investigating the break-ins, officers attempted to stop a vehicle leaving the area. The driver fled eastbound on Greenfield Avenue, initiating a pursuit. The suspect vehicle was eventually stopped near Greenfield Avenue and Vista View Drive after driving over tire deflation devices. The 17-year-old driver, a Milwaukee resident, was taken into custody. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen from Milwaukee TMJ4, WISN.
Authorities also discovered that the teen had an outstanding warrant from Milwaukee County for a previous offense WISN.
Second Chase Remains Unresolved
As officers were processing the arrest, they observed other individuals entering a vehicle near the original break-in location. Another pursuit was initiated as the suspects fled eastbound on I-94. However, officers ultimately terminated the chase, and the suspects were not apprehended FOX6 Milwaukee, TMJ4, WISN.
Ongoing Investigation
The New Berlin Police Department continues to investigate the vehicle break-ins and the theft of at least two vehicles. No injuries were reported during either pursuit WISN.
