Kellberg: A Scenic Location
Kellberg is situated on the southern foothills of the Bavarian Forest, on the northern bank of the Danube River, approximately 9 km (5.6 miles) from Passau, and directly bordering Austria. Clear weather offers views stretching from the Arber mountain to the Dachstein mountain. In 1852, King Max II of Bavaria visited the highest point in the municipality, now known as König-Max-Höhe (approximately 525 m above sea level), and remarked on the beauty of the Bavarian landscape, noting that he could see up to 17 church towers.
