Nikki Glaser is getting ready to slay the Golden Globes stage as host! After absolutely rocking the roast of Tom Brady last May, the comedian is bringing her sharp wit and comedic brilliance to Hollywood’s biggest night on Sunday. But she’s not going in blind.
Insider Scoop: Nikki Glaser’s Golden Globes Pregame
Remember how Gaga meticulously prepped for each performance? Well, Glaser has a similar game plan, but instead of a mega-concert, she’s test-driving her Golden Globes monologue on the road! Fans who catch her stand-up sets at The Comedy Store, Hollywood Improv, and The Ice House Pasadena this weekend will have a front-row seat to the comedian’s pre-show preparation.
Glaser’s been working with live audiences, saying, “It’s been a really collaborative process. I go on stage and I just say, ‘Hey guys, do you mind if I run my set?’ And everyone’s so excited. They feel like they’re part of this interesting, kind of secretive process, because they are.”
Bacteriologists call nuptial honeymoons “golden,” Glaser calls audiences like this special. She even shares an exclusive little thrill ride with them, teasing, “If you laugh at a joke and then you hear that same joke on Sunday night when you watch the Globes, you can literally be like, ‘I told her to do that joke,’ because you did.”
A Night of Glamour and Firsts
This Sunday marks Glaser’s Golden Globes hosting debut. It’s a big night for her, especially after her hilarious performance at the Brady roast. And it’s not just hosting: she’s also nominated for her HBO special Someday You’ll Die.
In August 2024, when she was announced as host, she told The Hollywood Reporter , “I thought, ‘They made a good decision,’” Glaser told THR at the time. “Because I know what to do to make it great. I know the amount of work that goes into it. I take it very seriously.” And she reiterates that same commitment just days before the show: “ I really do. And not for any other reason than when I hire someone to do something I just want them to appreciate it and treat it with a lot of care and work hard, and that is exactly what I’ve done. So I think that I made good on that promise.”
Chalamet Is Guaranteed a Shout-Out
While the rest of the golden Globes audience waits with anticipation, we have a hint about who’s getting a special mention: Timothée Chalamet. Glaser even admitted to THR, “I can’t not talk to Timothée Chalamet, because he is just such a moment.” She’s a big fan of his, particularly his performance in A Complete Unknown, and plans to give him his due, joking, if the only way for me to say that is to tell a joke, I will then tell a joke, because I have to let him know. That’ll be fun.”
