Nokia’s Deepfield: Strengthening LINX Against the Growing DDoS Storm

Nokia, the Finnish telecommunications giant, has made a critical move in bolstering Europe’s cybersecurity landscape by securing a deal with the London Internet Exchange (LINX). LINX, a vital hub where over 850 internet providers connect and exchange traffic, will now leverage Nokia’s advanced DDoS mitigation solution, ‘Nokia Deepfield.’

This strategic partnership comes at a time when DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks are surging in frequency and sophistication.

"In just the past few years, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number and scale of DDoS attacks," states a recent Nokia study. What was once a rare occurrence is now a daily reality for many network operators, with some detecting up to 100 attacks per day.

These attacks, often orchestrated by swarms of ‘botnets’ (networks of compromised computers), aim to overwhelm servers with traffic, effectively crippling online services and causing widespread disruption. LINX, being a critical node in the global internet infrastructure, faces a heightened risk from such attacks.

Nokia Deepfield emerges as a powerful ally in this fight. By leveraging advanced analytics, threat intelligence, and automated response mechanisms, Deepfield provides LINX with a robust defense against evolving DDoS threats. This allows LINX to remain resilient and ensure that critical internet services remain accessible and secure for its vast user base.

This partnership underscores the growing importance of cybersecurity in the digital age. As the reliance on internet connectivity continues to expand, the need for robust security measures becomes even more critical. Nokia’s Deepfield, deployed at LINX, represents a significant step towards building a more secure and resilient internet for all.
