Details of the Crash

Preliminary investigations indicate a 2016 Honda HR-V was traveling eastbound on Lone Mountain Road at a high rate of speed when it disregarded a red traffic signal and collided with a 2005 Ford Expedition traveling northbound on Clayton Street. FOX5 Vegas and KSNV reported on the incident.

The force of the impact caused both vehicles to spin through the intersection, leaving the roadway and striking a power pole and a wall.

A 53-year-old man, who was driving one of the vehicles, was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries. Two other occupants were also taken to UMC with injuries and are expected to recover.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased, as well as the official cause and manner of death, at a later time.
