Northeastern Women’s Hockey Reaches Frozen Four After Quarterfinal Victory Over Minnesota

For the fourth time in program history, the Northeastern University women’s hockey team is heading to the Frozen Four after a decisive 4-2 victory over the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis.

Huskies Dominate Early, Secure Victory

Northeastern, the No. 5 seed, jumped to an early lead with a three-goal first period. Éloïse Caron opened the scoring just over five minutes into the game, followed by goals from Stryker Zablocki and Mia Langlois. Minnesota pulled their goaltender, Hannah Clark, after Langlois’s power-play goal.

Morgan Jackson extended Northeastern’s lead in the second period. While Minnesota managed to score twice in the third period, the Huskies, led by sophomore netminder Lisa Jönsson’s 45 saves, held on to secure the 4-2 win.

Key Performances Lead the Way

Jönsson’s stellar performance in goal was crucial to Northeastern’s success. Caron, Zablocki, Langlois, and Jackson each contributed a goal to the Huskies’ offensive effort.

Frozen Four Bound: Matchup with Ohio State

Northeastern will now advance to the 2026 Frozen Four, hosted by Penn State at Pegula Ice Arena. The Huskies will face the top-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday, March 20, with puck drop scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

Coach Flint Praises Team Resilience

“Obviously, very excited for our group, they put out a great effort from the goal line out,” said Northeastern coach Dave Flint after the win. “This team, throughout the year, had a ton of resiliency and dealt with a lot of challenges and I’m just happy that they got rewarded tonight with a win and a trip to the Frozen Four.” Flint, in his 18th year with Northeastern, highlighted the significance of this victory, calling it one of the biggest in program history.
