Notre Dame Hockey to Host Michigan in Emotional Weekend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame Hockey team will conclude its three-week homestand with games against #2/2 michigan on Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. This weekend is set to be a special one, filled with festivities. Friday’s game is the annual Hocktoberfest, and will be the final game behind the bench for Associate Coach Andy Slaggert.Saturday’s contest is a whiteout game honoring Rudy Chapman, a vital member of the team from 2018 until his passing in July 2025 after a battle with cancer.

This weekend marks the 172nd all-time meeting between the two programs. Michigan leads the series 77-88-6, but Notre Dame has found success at home, holding a 34-33-2 advantage in South bend. The Irish won their last meeting at Compton Family Ice Arena, 7-4, in January 2025.

This year’s matchup features many familiar faces who excelled in last year’s four-game series.
