NRK sets the agenda in political Norway a week adn a half before the election. Then the state channel presents its last “super measurement” before the September 8 election.
NRK’s measurement differs from other polls in the election campaign in that it is composed of 19 local measurements where 800 people are asked in each county. The super -measurement thus has far higher accuracy than national measurements and enjoys great authority.
NRK has shared the results with Nettavisen in advance that the results are not published until 06:00 on Wednesday morning.In Nettavisen’s work on the super-measurement, it became clear that the vast majority of measurements where recorded two to three weeks ago (see separate table below). The first interviews were done August 7-almost three weeks ago-in Northern Norway, while the interviews in Oslo, Akershus and Østfold were done 17-19. August.

Right Criticizes NRK for Using outdated Poll Numbers Ahead of Election

The Right party is criticizing the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) for presenting poll numbers that are two to three weeks old as news, particularly as the parliamentary election campaign begins.secretary General Tom Erlend Skaug told Nettavisen that other media outlets are publishing much fresher polls.
“It is indeed very surprising that NRK now, at the entrance, chooses to present two to three weeks old numbers as news,” Skaug stated.
The Right also alleges that NRK’s own reporters may not be aware of the age of the poll data they are reporting on.
“We have received feedback that NRK’s reporters around the country are not aware of when the numbers are from when they make journalism around them. NRK has many good employees, but in this case it may seem that no one has been in control. It is indeed regrettable at the entrance of a parliamentary election campaign,” Skaug added.

News Manager Kyrre Nakkim at NRK responded to the criticism, stating, “We ensure that the cases contain correct facts where the comparison is with our own May measurement. I think it’s strange that the Right criticizes issues that they haven’t read.”

Mads Motrøen, head of political polls at Norstat, states that this year’s super-poll is the largest the institute has ever conducted, with 15,200 respondents compared to 11,400 four years ago.
Purpose of the Super-Poll
“The main goal of these extensive measurements is to provide a thorough picture of national trends in the weeks leading up to the election. All the county measurements are also the freshest in almost all counties,” explains Motrøen to nettavisen. “The purpose has been to provide figures to the entire country for NRK’s district offices and other media.”
