Oasis will document the band’s return to the stage in a forthcoming film titled Don’t Look Back in Anger, which tracks the reconciliation of Liam and Noel Gallagher following their 2009 split. The documentary, directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, captures the band’s reunion tour rehearsals, backstage footage, and the brothers’ first joint interviews in over two decades, with a theatrical release scheduled for September.
The Production Behind the Oasis Reunion
The documentary project, officially titled Don’t Look Back in Anger, is a collaborative effort between Disney+, Magna Studios, and Sony Music Vision. The project was created by Steven Knight, known for creating Peaky Blinders.

Directors Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace bring a background in music-focused documentary filmmaking to the project. The duo previously directed Shut Up and Play the Hits and the documentary Meet Me in the Bathroom. According to the production team, the film aims to document the emotional weight of the tour and its cultural impact on global audiences.
What the Documentary Covers
The film focuses on the logistics and interpersonal dynamics of the tour, which marked the first time the Gallagher brothers performed together in 16 years. According to official statements from the production, the documentary provides an unprecedented look at the rehearsals and the eventual reconciliation between the two brothers.
A teaser released in July highlighted the friction that preceded the tour. The footage includes archival audio of Noel Gallagher expressing doubt about reuniting with his brother, alongside commentary from Liam Gallagher regarding the "unacceptable" nature of the band’s initial breakup in 2009. The documentary features direct interviews with both brothers, marking their first joint sit-down discussion in more than 20 years.
Release Strategy and Availability
Don’t Look Back in Anger will follow a tiered release strategy starting in September.

- Theatrical Debut: The film is slated for a limited run in select IMAX theaters and cinemas.
- Streaming Access: Following the theatrical window, the documentary will be available for streaming globally.
- Platform Distribution: Domestically in the United States, the film will stream on Hulu and Disney+. International distribution is handled via Disney+.
Why This Documentary Matters
The project serves as an account of the tour. Steven Knight described the film as more than a concert movie, characterizing it as a "backstage pass" and a record of the brothers telling their story "as it is and how it was."
By documenting the transition from the band’s 2009 dissolution to their sold-out stadium performances, the filmmakers aim to frame the reunion as a cultural touchstone. The film contrasts the skepticism surrounding the 2024 reunion announcement with the eventual success of the international tour, providing a narrative arc that moves from public doubt to live performance.
