The definitive companion guide to Matt Groening’s landmark animated sitcom, titled Simpsons World: The Ultimate Episode Guide (Seasons 1–20), has arrived in South Korean bookstores, offering fans an exhaustive breakdown of the show’s foundational decades according to publisher Wolbuk.

The Release of Simpsons World in South Korea

Originally published in English to chronicle the first 440 episodes spanning seasons 8 through 12 and beyond, the Korean edition of Simpsons World arrives following strong commercial interest on local crowdfunding platforms. According to platform data from Wadiz, the book campaign surpassed its initial funding goals to rank first in the domestic book funding category, followed by strong consumer engagement at the Seoul International Book Fair.

The animated series itself, which debuted on Fox on December 17, 1989, has accumulated 37 Emmy Awards over its historic broadcast run. Series creator Matt Groening oversaw the creation of the ultimate guide, which documents the satirical choices, cultural references, and visual gags embedded across the show’s extensive run.

Exclusive Features in the Korean Edition

Unlike previous international translations—which, outside of North America, previously included only a German-language edition—the Korean release incorporates a world-first supplemental booklet titled Simpsons Universe Footnotes, according to the publisher. This companion text was developed by the translation team to unpack American cultural allusions, literary references, and contextual subtext for Korean readers.

Throughout the main text and footnotes, the guide details how the series uses satire to address social, political, and artistic themes while maintaining the domestic chaos centered on Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson.
