Ohio State Women’s Gymnastics Heads to Michigan State

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 21 Ohio State women’s gymnastics team will travel to East Lansing, Michigan, to compete in a Big Ten dual meet against No. 11 Michigan State this Saturday, February 21, at 6 p.m. From Jenison Field House.

The meet will be streamed live on B1G+ (subscription required).

Buckeyes Recent Performance

In their last meet, Ohio State achieved a season-high score of 49.525 on floor exercise against Washington. Four gymnasts recorded scores of 9.900 or higher, with JJ Coleman (9.950), Baylie Belman (9.925), and Cameron Smith (9.900) achieving career-high scores. Tory Vetter also tied her season-best with a 9.900.

The Buckeyes secured two individual event titles in their recent dual meet against Washington. Courtney McCann won her second beam title of the year with a season-high 9.900, while Coleman claimed the floor title with a career-high tying score.

Ohio State is currently ranked 11th nationally and third in the Big Ten on floor, boasting a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 49.319. The team has won the floor title in four of their six meets this season.

Key Buckeyes to Watch

JJ Coleman currently leads the Buckeyes on vault (9.900) and floor (9.950), earning three event titles on each apparatus. She recently competed in the all-around for the first time this season against Washington.

Tory Vetter holds the team’s highest score of the season on uneven bars (9.900) and in the all-around (39.525). Vetter, a fifth-year Buckeye, is the 2024 Big Ten uneven bars champion and has tied the program’s all-around record of 39.625 in her collegiate career.

Fresh Faces and Team Strengths

Six student-athletes have made their Buckeye debuts this season, including junior Natalie Martin (vault, beam, floor), sophomore Sadie Jane Berry (uneven bars), and freshmen Jaylyn Pomager, Ava Jackson, and Baylie Belman.

Ohio State’s beam team is anchored by Jackson and Riley Guevara, both with season-high scores of 9.925. Five Buckeyes – Guevara, Jackson, Martin, Vetter, and Courtney McCann – have all scored 9.900 or higher on beam, contributing to the team’s highest beam score of the year, a 49.425 at Nebraska.

The team is ranked 21st in the country and tied for second in the Big Ten standings with Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, and Michigan State.
