Oliveira showcased a determined ride, steadily gaining positions throughout the race. His race management and calculated overtakes allowed him to break into the top 10, mitigating the impact of his difficult qualifying. He finished as the top BMW representative in the race, signaling positive momentum for the German manufacturer.
Adapting to Superbike Racing
The transition from MotoGP to Superbike has presented challenges for Oliveira, as he adjusts to the BMW M 1000 RR. Recent testing at Phillip Island revealed a performance gap of 1.218 seconds behind leader Nicolò Bulega, with Oliveira posting a best lap time of 1:30.563 . Despite this, he has been focused on adapting his riding style and optimizing the bike’s setup.
Phillip Island Challenge
The opening round of the 2026 World Championship takes place at the iconic Phillip Island Circuit in Australia. Oliveira acknowledges the steep learning curve, stating he is approaching the event as if “I’ve just jumped out of a plane” , highlighting the significant differences between MotoGP and Superbike machinery.
