Oklahoma State Hall of Honor Welcomes Six Latest Inductees

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State University Athletics announced its Hall of Honor class of 2026, including former Cowboy basketball standout Tony Allen, along with Chase Jackson (women’s track and field), Dick Hutton (wrestling), Hunter Mahan (men’s golf), Vanessa Shippy-Fletcher (softball) and James Washington (football). The six inductees will be officially honored during a ceremony on Friday, October 9.

Selection Process

The selection process began with a screening committee comprised of OSU Athletics coaches and staff, who initially narrowed down a pool of approximately 50 eligible candidates. A separate selection committee, consisting of individuals affiliated with but not employed by OSU Athletics, then voted to determine the final honorees. Tickets for the induction ceremony will be available for purchase during the summer months.

Tony Allen, Men’s Basketball (2002-04)

Tony Allen enjoyed a remarkable two-year career at Oklahoma State after transferring from junior college, accumulating 1,021 career points, ranking him 26th on the OSU all-time scoring list. In his senior season, Allen led the Cowboys to a Big 12 regular-season championship, a Big 12 Tournament title, and an impressive run to the Final Four.

Allen earned recognition as the Big 12 Conference Co-Player of the Year alongside teammate John Lucas. He was too named a first-team All-District 12 selection and received an Associated Press honorable mention All-American nod. Further accolades included being named the Most Valuable Player at the Big 12 Tournament and earning a spot on the East Rutherford Regional all-tournament team.

Drafted 27th overall in the first round of the NBA draft by the Boston Celtics, Allen went on to have a successful professional career. He won an NBA championship with the Celtics in 2008 and was a six-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection, earning first-team honors three times. His jersey was retired by the Memphis Grizzlies in 2025, and he was inducted into both the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame and the Memphis Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.

Chase Jackson, Women’s Track and Field (2013-16)

Chase Jackson achieved significant success in women’s track and field, becoming a two-time shot set world champion in 2022 and 2023, and competing in the 2024 Olympics. She also secured two World silver medals (2022 – indoors and 2025) and two World bronze medals (2024 – indoors and 2025 – indoors). Jackson holds the American record in the shot put and was the first American woman to win a world championship in the event. A three-time All-American, she earned two first-team honors while at Oklahoma State.

Richard “Dick” Hutton, Wrestling (1947-50)

Dick Hutton was a dominant force in collegiate wrestling, winning three NCAA individual championships and earning four All-American honors. He also represented the United States at the 1948 Olympic Games. Hutton was a key member of two NCAA team championship squads and was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1995.

Hunter Mahan, Men’s Golf (2002-03)

Hunter Mahan was recognized as the national player of the year in 2003, receiving the Fred Haskins Award, Ben Hogan Award, and Jack Nicklaus Award. He earned first-team All-American status in both of his seasons at Oklahoma State and was a two-time Big 12 Player of the Year. Mahan went on to achieve six career PGA Tour wins and represented the U.S. On four Presidents Cup teams and three Ryder Cup teams.

Vanessa Shippy-Fletcher, Softball (2015-18)

Vanessa Shippy-Fletcher excelled in softball, earning three All-American honors and being named the Big 12 Player of the Year twice. She consistently ranked among the nation’s leaders in batting average, on-base percentage, and runs per game. Shippy-Fletcher was also a three-time Academic All-American and a finalist for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award.

James Washington, Football (2014-17)

James Washington was a standout receiver for the Cowboys, winning the 2017 Biletnikoff Award as the nation’s top receiver and earning unanimous All-American honors. He led the NCAA in receiving yards and receiving yards per game in 2017 and was selected in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Washington finished his collegiate career with 4,472 receiving yards, setting a new school record and ranking second in Big 12 history.
