‘Infuriated’ Paddy Pimblett Critiques Joe Rogan’s Commentary After Rewatching Justin Gaethje Fight
Paddy Pimblett expressed frustration after reviewing his unanimous decision defeat to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324, taking issue with perceived inconsistencies in commentary and officiating. The loss marked the first of Pimblett’s professional mixed martial arts career.
Pimblett Calls Out UFC 324 Commentators
Pimblett highlighted moments during the fight where he believed he was unfairly penalized or that commentary misrepresented events. He specifically questioned a call during the third round when referee Marc Goddard halted the action after Gaethje claimed a low blow.
“Witness, that knee to the body hit him. That never hit him low,” Pimblett stated while rewatching the fight. “That’s experience. This did my head in. I can remember turning to Trevor Wittman and going like that [stretches out his arms and shrugs]. It hits him on the belt line. It wasn’t low.”
Pimblett also disputed commentator Joe Rogan’s assessment of a later strike from Gaethje, claiming it was a clear low blow that went uncalled. “Seem, he’s just kneed me in the balls,” Pimblett added. “What the f—? Watching this back is so annoying. He’s just kneed me low and then landed shots because of it. And Rogan is saying ‘That’s beltline’. Well, if that’s belt line, how isn’t the one I hit Gaethje with before belt line?”
Pimblett’s Next Fight: Targeting Benoit Saint-Denis
Despite the contentious loss, Pimblett is eager to return to the Octagon. He expressed a strong desire to face Benoit Saint-Denis in his next bout, ideally in the summer. Saint-Denis recently moved into the 155lb top five after a TKO win over Dan Hooker at UFC 325.
“It p—ed me off that Saint-Denis moved above me for beating that bum Dan Hooker,” Pimblett fumed. “Why has Saint-Denis moved above me for beating the bum Dan Hooker, who is f—ing s—? What’s going on there? I’ll fight anyone but… Saint Danis sounds like a quality fight for me. Europe’s two best lightweights going at it against each other. I don’t give a f—. I’ll fight anyone, but I’ll be back in the summer.”
Pimblett confirmed he has no injuries and is ready to compete.
