Šancl came on the pitch in the 66th minute and less than twenty minutes later he was already celebrating a goal. But he kept his joy to himself – he spread his arms and with the gesture “I’m sorry, gentlemen” made it clear that he would not be celebrating this time.
“My future in Baník is given, so I took it as respect for the club,” he explained after the match.
“Honestly, it’s a strange situation. But it depends on everyone how he behaves. If he eliminated us, it would have been worse,” smiled David Buchta, who sent Ostrava to the quarterfinals of the MOL Cup with two goals.
“I didn’t even notice that he wasn’t celebrating. But I took it for him,I was very happy,” laughed Pardubice coach Tomáš Polách.
At the same time, the whole situation around Šancel is rather unconventional. He has known about his move to Silesia since the summer, when the big transfer between slavia and Baník took place. Erik Prekop headed to Eden, while David Planka and Ondřej Kričfaluš traveled to Ostrava. And Šancl is only supposed to arrive after the autumn part of the season.
“he showed that it was the right transfer. But I’ll probably talk to him about that goal again, if he meant it,” laughed Baník coach Tomáš Galásek.
