Pascal Exposito’s Sculptures on Display in Saint-ciers-du-Taillon
Table of Contents
Sculptor Pascal Exposito is showcasing fifteen newly created sculptures in Saint-Ciers-du-Taillon from August 22nd to 24th, 2024. Working on his art during vacations and weekends, Exposito transforms reclaimed materials – notably old axes – into striking pieces ranging from animal figures to South African-inspired totems, including a sculpture of the iconic Joséphine Baker. The exhibition, held at the Salle des fêtes de saint-Ciers-du-Taillon, offers a glimpse into the artist’s unique creative process and evolving style.
From Ax to Art: A Fifteen-Year Journey
Exposito’s artistic journey began fifteen years ago with the serendipitous revelation of an old ax.”One day, I found an old ax. I thought: ‘I can do something.’ it fell on me,” he recalls, describing the moment that sparked his passion. Since then, he has consistently created, driven by a desire to repurpose and reimagine discarded objects. The rapid creation of fifteen sculptures in just one month for this exhibition demonstrates his dedication and prolific output.
The Signature “Ball”
A recent addition to Exposito’s work is a distinctive signature: a metal ball incorporated into his sculptures. He explains his inspiration, “Before, I signed PE, and I thought that my signature woudl be a ball, I found it nice, it’s okay with metal and on certain sculptures, it gives me a credible eye.” This signature element, adopted just a fortnight ago, is seamlessly integrated into his pieces, adding a unique and recognizable touch. He sourced the balls from his father and children, further personalizing the artistic statement.
