Penn State QB Drew Allar Exits Game With Knee Injury

MADISON, Wis. — Penn State quarterback Drew Allar left Saturday’s 28-13 victory over Wisconsin in the first half, raising concerns about his status moving forward. Allar appeared to injure his left knee after taking a sack on the final drive before halftime with Penn State trailing 10-7.

He clutched his knee as he walked off the field with a trainer. While Allar did jog out of the tunnel after halftime – albeit gingerly – he started the second half on the sideline with a brace on his left knee. Backup quarterback Beau Pribula took over the offense for the opening drive.

Pribula Steps Up While Allar Recovers

Pribula, known for his mobility, kept the offense moving. Penn State’s third-string quarterback is freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer. Allar, though, had been playing well before the injury, completing 9 of 10 passes for 113 yards in the first quarter. He finished the first half 14 of 18 for 148 yards and a touchdown pass to running back Nicholas Singleton. Pribula stepped in admirably, completing 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing six times for 28 yards.

Allar’s Availability for Ohio State Game in Question

The severity of Allar’s knee injury and his availability for next week’s crucial matchup against No. 4 Ohio State in Beaver Stadium are now major storylines.
