Peruvian Mental Health Leader Honored with prestigious PAHO Award
The pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has bestowed its 2025 International Prize for management and Leadership in Health Services upon Dr. July Caballero Peralta,the Executive Director of Mental Health within peru’s Ministry of Health. This recognition acknowledges Dr. Caballero’s pivotal role in bolstering mental healthcare infrastructure and destigmatizing mental illness throughout the nation.

The award ceremony saw high-level praise from Eduardo Arana, President of the council of Peruvian Ministers, and Minister of Health César Vásquez. Both officials lauded Dr. caballero’s dedication to dismantling the societal stigmas surrounding mental health conditions and her instrumental work in expanding access to vital mental health services.
