The Genesis Invitational at Riviera Country Club saw strong performances from Swedish golfers Alex Norén and Ludvig Åberg, while other Swedes also made their mark on the global golf scene. Here’s a recap of their recent results and what’s ahead.
Genesis Invitational: Norén and Åberg’s Performances
Both Alex Norén and Ludvig Åberg concluded the Genesis Invitational with impressive rounds of 66 (-5), showcasing their skills at the prestigious tournament.
Alex Norén’s Strong Finish
Norén overcame a challenging first round with six bogeys to finish tied for 12th place at 11-under par, seven strokes behind the winner, Jacob Bridgeman. His performance was bolstered by exceptional play around the greens, ranking sixth in the field with a +3.21 in Strokes Gained: Around the Green and seventh in Strokes Gained: Putting with a +3.97. This result propelled him 51 places up the FedEx Cup rankings to 50th.
Ludvig Åberg’s Solid Showing
Åberg’s final round included an eagle on the first hole and continued high-quality shots throughout the day. He hit 54 of 72 greens during the week, the fifth-most in the field. Despite not driving the ball as consistently as usual, he finished with a +0.35 in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and hit 50 percent of fairways. Åberg climbed 43 places in the FedEx Cup rankings, moving from 112th to 69th.

Honda LPGA Thailand
Jeeno Thitikul won the Honda LPGA Thailand on home soil with a closing round of 68, finishing at 24-under par. Maja Stark was the top Swedish performer, tying for 24th at 12-under par, while Linn Grant tied for 32nd at 10-under par.
Magical Kenya Open
Sebastian Söderberg finished strongly with a 64 (-6) in the Magical Kenya Open, securing a joint ninth place at 16-under par. He finished nine strokes behind the winner, Casey Jarvis of South Africa. Joakim Lagergren (-13) tied for 23rd, and Mikael Lindberg (-12) tied for 29th.
Jonsson Workwear Durban Open
Christofer Blomstrand delivered a fantastic round of 61 (-11) on Friday and finished second in the Jonsson Workwear Durban Open. The tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to course conditions, and Blomstrand finished two strokes behind winner Oliver Bekker. This second-place finish moved Blomstrand to sixth on the Road to Mallorca.
Staysure Marbella Legends
Jamie Donaldson of Wales won the Staysure Marbella Legends at Aloha GC with a final-round 64. Mikael Ludnberg was the best Swedish finisher, tying for fifth, six strokes behind the winner. Joakim Haeggman and Johan Edfors tied for seventh, seven strokes back.
Cutter & Buck Tour – Golfstar Winter Series Forest
Martin Eriksson from Kårsta GK won the second event of the Golfstar Winter Series at Empordá Golf Club with a score of 16-under par, four strokes ahead of David Lundgren and Oliver Gillberg, both at 12-under par.
Looking Ahead
The PGA Tour moves to Florida for the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, with Jesper Svensson and Pontus Nyholm representing Sweden. Alex Norén and Ludvig Åberg are expected to compete in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill outside Orlando, March 5-8.
