Pitbull to Build Mr. 305 Headquarters on Site of Childhood Home in Miami’s Wynwood

Miami-born music mogul Pitbull is planning to transform the location of one of his childhood homes into the headquarters for his music company, Mr. 305 Records. The project, located in the vibrant Wynwood neighborhood, signifies a full-circle moment for the artist and represents a significant investment in his hometown.

From Humble Beginnings to a Corporate Hub

The proposed eight-story building at 25 Northeast 28th Street will replace a modest, 720-square-foot two-bedroom house built in 1927 as reported by the New York Post. The lot itself spans 1,750 square feet. The new headquarters will encompass approximately 11,200 square feet, with nearly 9,700 square feet dedicated to office space according to AllHipHop.

A Personal Connection to Wynwood

Pitbull has frequently spoken about his upbringing in Wynwood, recalling a time before the area’s transformation into a thriving arts and culture district. “I used to live in Wynwood when they didn’t sell art,” Pitbull said at a 2020 event as quoted in the New York Post. “They sold coke, crack and heroin, so to be able to perform… I used to stay right up the block when nobody believed in me, so to be on this stage is definitely an honor.”

Development Details and Community Impact

Rilea Group, a Brickell-based development firm, is leading the project and has already received city approval for the demolition of the existing structure as detailed in The Real Deal. The design, by Deforma Studio, includes an eight-story wall featuring a black-and-white, graffiti-like mural, intended to complement Wynwood’s artistic character. Developers requested and received approval for three additional floors beyond the neighborhood’s standard five-story zoning limit, in exchange for a contribution to the Wynwood public trust fund AllHipHop reports.

Expanding Pitbull’s Miami Empire

This project is the latest in a series of ventures demonstrating Pitbull’s commitment to Miami. He founded his first SLAM! tuition-free charter school in Little Havana in 2013 and recently secured a deal to renovate the historic Olympia Theater in downtown Miami through a charter school co-founded by him according to the Miami Herald. In 2024, he also acquired the naming rights to FIU’s football stadium, becoming the first musician to have a stadium bear their name in college athletics.

Project Approval and Next Steps

The Wynwood Design Review Committee approved the project on March 10, 2026 the New York Post confirmed, paving the way for final approval from the city zoning administrator. The development is expected to further contribute to Wynwood’s ongoing evolution as a creative and commercial hub.
