Resisting Arrest
at 4:42 pm, an assault was reported in the 200 block of 8th St. Witnesses said they saw one man slap another. the investigation showed that a 39-year-old man had hit a 34-year-old man in the face. When officers tried to arrest him for the assault, he became combative and was also charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.The 34-year-old man was charged with violating a no-interaction condition of his release by contacting the other man. Both men were arrested and released with a court date.
Assault
At 11:30 pm, police responded to a report of an assault in the 100 block of Main St. A 28-year-old woman told officers she was walking when a man approached her and punched her in the face. The suspect, identified as 45-year-old John Smith, was located nearby and arrested.He’s been charged with assault. The victim received medical attention for her injuries.
Theft
Between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, a theft was reported from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Elm St. The victim stated that someone had broken a window and stolen a laptop and a purse. Police are investigating. Anyone with data is asked to contact the police department.
Mischief
Early this morning, officers responded to a report of mischief at a local park. Someone had spray-painted graffiti on the playground equipment. The Parks Department has been notified, and police are investigating. It appears the incident occured sometime overnight.
