Pope Francis Shows Continued Improvement at Gemelli Hospital

The Holy See Press Office released a positive update on Thursday morning about Pope Francis’s condition. The Pope is currently being treated for double pneumonia at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital.

Peaceful Night and Engaging Day

“Pope Francis has had a restful night and this morning, got out of bed and had breakfast in an armchair,” the Holy See Press Office stated in a note to journalists on Thursday morning.

After enjoying breakfast, Pope Francis read newspapers and resumed his work with his closest collaborators. He also received the Eucharist before lunch.

Visit from Italian Prime Minister

In the afternoon, Pope Francis received a visit from Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. They spent 20 minutes in private.

Steady Progress

On Wednesday evening, the Holy See Press Office reported that the Pope’s clinical condition was “stable,” with blood tests showing “a slight improvement, particularly in the inflammatory indices.” Doctors previously indicated that due to the complexity of his condition, a longer hospitalization would be necessary.
