Dublin Pub Leonard’s Corner Closes After 25 Years

Dublin’s beloved pub scene continues to face challenges, with another popular establishment announcing its closure. Leonard’s Corner, a cherished fixture on the South Circular Road for nearly 25 years, has announced it’s shutting its doors.

Known for its welcoming atmosphere, delicious pints, and tasty sandwiches, Leonard’s Corner held a special place in the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Owners Gerry and Phil shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude for the incredible journey and thanking their loyal customers and dedicated staff.

“We have had the best journey and enjoyed every minute of time with you all,” their statement reads. “To all our loyal customers, you made Leonard’s Corner a very special place and we want to thank each and every one of you, as without you, it wouldn’t have been the same.”

They continued, “We have to say a massive thank you to our wonderful staff. It has been a huge pleasure to work with you and we wish you all the very best for the future. We have developed a great relationship, and we are very grateful for all you have done. It hasn’t been an easy decision to move on, but we feel it is the right time. It is now our turn to have our adventures.”

While the closure marks the end of an era, Gerry and Phil expressed optimism for the future, stating, “We will always think fondly of our time in Leonard’s Corner with all our wonderful staff and customers. We wish everyone well and again, a big thank you to you all. It is not goodbye, but see you later.”

Leonard’s Corner joins a growing list of Dublin establishments facing closure recently. Dillinger’s, a popular restaurant in Ranelagh, announced its closure earlier this month after 15 successful years. Meanwhile, Shanahan’s on the Green, another beloved Dublin restaurant, recently announced temporary closure due to financial difficulties.

These closures highlight the ongoing challenges facing Dublin’s hospitality industry.
