Prabowo to Use Funds Recovered from Corruptors to Pay Off Whoosh Debt

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – the debate over the large debt of the Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC),also known as Whoosh,has been resolved.

Previously,government ministries where looking for ways to pay off the debt.This was because the Ministry of Finance refused to use the state budget (APBN) for repayment.

Now, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has stepped in directly.

The President stated he would take responsibility for repaying the Whoosh debt. He plans to use money recovered from corrupt individuals to pay it off.

No Need to Focus on Profit and Loss

Prabowo asked that the KCIC (Whoosh) debt issue not be viewed in terms of profits and losses.

He explained that the value of the fast train should be judged by the benefits it provides to the public.
