Premier League to Launch Direct-to-Consumer Streaming Service, Premier League Plus, in Singapore with StarHub
The English Premier League (EPL) is set to launch its first direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming service, Premier League Plus, in Singapore in partnership with StarHub, beginning with the 2026/27 season.
Premier League’s First Direct-to-Consumer Venture
Speaking at the Financial Times Business of Football Summit in London, Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters confirmed the launch of the platform, which will broadcast all 380 top-flight games in Singapore, alongside additional content . This marks the first time the Premier League will offer a service directly to consumers.
Partnership with StarHub
The new streaming service is being developed in collaboration with StarHub, the league’s existing broadcast partner in Singapore, which holds the Premier League rights from 2022 to 2028 . StarHub will operate closely with the Premier League on this collaborative trial, expected to roll out from next season, starting in August 2026.
From ‘Premflix’ to Premier League Plus
While a global streaming service was previously referred to as ‘Premflix’, the platform will officially be named Premier League Plus . The launch in Singapore will serve as a pilot project to assess the viability of replicating the DTC streaming model in other global markets.
Strategic Implications and Future Growth
Masters indicated that the platform provides the Premier League with “more optionality” and the opportunity to learn about direct customer engagement, including promotion, pricing, and subscription management . The league generated £12.25 billion in broadcast and commercial revenue for the 2025 to 2028 cycle, with international media rights income increasing by 27 percent . Despite this success, the Premier League continues to explore new revenue streams and maintain its market position.
Expanding Content Offering
Premier League Plus will offer all 380 games, along with supplementary content and a dedicated 24/7 channel . The Premier League has taken control of its content, allowing for the development of tailored content for different audiences.
