Prince Andrew’s Quiet Life at Sandringham Following Arrest
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has experienced significant changes in 2026, including a move from Royal Lodge in Windsor and a subsequent arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Following his departure from Royal Lodge, he initially resided in a temporary home on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
Limited Freedom at Wood Farm
Currently, Mountbatten-Windsor is staying at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate. According to biographer Andrew Lownie, the former Duke of York’s movements are restricted. “He’s stuck on Wood Farm up in Sandringham. I hear he’s not even allowed to go out the front door to go [horseback] riding,” Lownie stated to the Express’s TalkTV.
A Routine of Relaxation and Observation
Lownie described Mountbatten-Windsor’s daily routine as largely inactive. “Well, what he did before really, which is to basically mooch around all morning in his dressing gown [bathrobe] and watch films,” he explained. The former Duke of York reportedly spends his time watching movies and videos, having been unable to pursue hobbies like golf or horseback riding.
Legal Monitoring and Isolation
Although released after questioning by police, Mountbatten-Windsor’s legal team is closely monitoring the situation. Lownie noted that the former prince remains hopeful about resuming business activities but currently leads a quiet life. He also indicated that Mountbatten-Windsor has become increasingly isolated, with many of his friends having distanced themselves from him.
Relocation to Marsh Farm
The move to Sandringham followed the termination of his lease at Royal Lodge in February 2026, and it is believed he will ultimately reside at Marsh Farm on the estate as reported by the BBC. InStyle describes Marsh Farm as a “shoe box-sized” home.
Recent History
In October 2025, King Charles III stripped Mountbatten-Windsor of his remaining royal titles and requested he vacate Royal Lodge following the release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, Nobody’s Girl, which included accusations of sexual abuse. Architectural Digest notes that police conducted searches of both Royal Lodge and Wood Farm following his arrest in February 2026 on suspicion of misconduct in public office related to his connection with Jeffrey Epstein.
