Vietnam Drives Digital Transformation Through Focused R&D
This marks a significant step forward, opening doors for numerous high-tech research and request programs, notably the “Promoting Research, Advancement and Application of Industry 4.0 Technology” program.
Initial results of the KC-4.0/19-25 Program
According to prof.Dr. nguyen Thanh thuy, deputy program director, the “Promoting Research, Development and Application of Industry 4.0 Technologies” program has already reviewed over 500 project proposals and selected 74 practical projects supporting key economic sectors. Research centers on vital technologies like artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, big data, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT), with applications spanning healthcare, agriculture, natural resources, environmental science, and more.
In healthcare and public health, research is already making an impact. AI systems now assist in diagnosing and predicting the spread of pulmonary tuberculosis using X-ray images. AI is also aiding prenatal screening for common genetic abnormalities specific to Vietnam.Furthermore, projects using AI and next-generation sequencing to identify gene mutations related to cancer drug response are paving the way for precision medicine.
Agriculture is also benefiting. Systems are being developed to collect data and use AI to optimize irrigation, fertilizer use, and pest control in dragon fruit farming. Blockchain technology is being implemented to trace the origin of honey and pepper, increasing openness and product value.
