Pulp Returns with Latest Single “Begging for Change” Ahead of War Child Album Release

British rock band Pulp has released a new song, “Begging for Change,” contributing to the upcoming charity album Help(2), a successor to the landmark 1995 release benefiting War Child UK. The album is set to launch on March 6th.

A Legacy of Support for War Child

The track was recorded during sessions for Pulp’s 2025 album, More. This isn’t the first time Pulp has supported War Child; in 1995, the original Help album, featuring artists like Oasis, Paul McCartney, and Radiohead, raised £1.25 million for children affected by the Bosnian conflict [Pitchfork]. The following year, both Pulp and War Child were nominated for a Mercury Prize, with Pulp ultimately winning and donating the prize money to the organization [Pitchfork].

Help(2): A Star-Studded Lineup

Help(2) features over 30 artists, including Olivia Rodrigo, Arctic Monkeys, Wet Leg, The Last Dinner Party, Wolf Alice, Fontaines DC, and Ezra Collective [BBC]. The album was recorded over one week at Abbey Road Studios, with collaborations forming organically during the sessions [BBC]. Damon Albarn collaborated with Johnny Marr and vocalists Kae Tempest and Grian Chatten, while Jarvis Cocker found himself joined by the other artists in his studio, resulting in a collaborative intro to “Begging For Change” [BBC].

A Continuation of a Charitable Tradition

Frontman Jarvis Cocker reflected on the band’s long-standing support for War Child, stating, “Thirty years ago we gave our Mercury Prize (and the prize money) to War Child,” and hinting at further contributions this year [Pitchfork]. The original Help album, released during the height of Britpop, included contributions from artists such as Paul Weller, Radiohead, Suede, and The Manic Street Preachers [BBC].

Help(2) is released on March 6th via War Child Records [Beggars Group].
