Spanish Royals Visit Luxembourg and Prepare for Belgium Trip
King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain completed an introductory visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg on November 11, 2014 and are scheduled to make a similar visit to Belgium. The Luxembourg visit included official welcomes, meetings with Grand Dukes, and engagements with government officials.
Official Welcome and Meetings in Luxembourg
Upon arrival in Luxembourg, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were greeted by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume at the airport. They then proceeded to the Grand Ducal Palace in Luxembourg City, where they were received by Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. Queen Letizia received a bouquet of flowers, and the Spanish and Luxembourg national anthems were played.
A luncheon was hosted by the Grand Dukes in honor of the Spanish royals, attended by Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and his wife, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie. Following the luncheon, King Felipe and Queen Letizia met with President of the Chamber of Deputies, Mars Di Bartolomeo, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean Asselborn.
Queen Letizia’s Fashion Choices
During the visit, Queen Letizia wore a Felipe Varela monochrome patterned wool crepe dress paired with a winter white wool coat. Both pieces had been worn on previous occasions; the coat debuted in November 2010, and the dress in April 2012. She accessorized with grey suede Magrit platform pumps, a Furla Snakeskin Print Handbag, and Chanel ‘Comète’ stud earrings with pearl drops.
Upcoming Visit to Belgium
Following their visit to Luxembourg, King Felipe and Queen Letizia are scheduled to pay a similar visit to Belgium. Details of the Belgium visit were not provided.
