McKenzie Health System’s Rebecca Stoliker Earns Master’s Degree, Champions Rural Healthcare
Sandusky, MI – Rebecca Stoliker, Director of Nursing Services at McKenzie Health System (MHS), has achieved a significant milestone in her career, earning a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a specialization in administration and management from Aspen University. Her dedication to healthcare, particularly within rural communities, is further demonstrated through her ongoing involvement in workforce development initiatives.
A Legacy of Service at McKenzie Health System
Stoliker graduated with a 3.9 GPA, according to a recent announcement. She brings 21 years of healthcare experience to her role at MHS, having dedicated 19 years to the organization. She currently oversees acute care, emergency services, surgical services, EMS, and the Community Paramedic Program.
From Sanilac Career Center to Saginaw Valley State University
Stoliker’s journey in healthcare began at Sandusky High School through the health occupations program at the Sanilac Career Center. She then pursued and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Saginaw Valley State University. Her initial passion for nursing was sparked in first grade even as assisting with the care of her grandfather during his hospice journey.
Commitment to Rural Healthcare
Stoliker emphasizes the unique benefits of providing care in a rural setting. “I have always enjoyed caring for the community I live in rather than being part of a larger health system where the connectivity is often lost,” she stated in a report by the Port Huron Times Herald. “While rural healthcare can present challenges, it also allows for a personalized touch, added trust, confidence and empathy that makes a meaningful difference.”
Advocating for Future Healthcare Professionals
Beyond her leadership position at McKenzie Health System, Stoliker actively contributes to the development of the future healthcare workforce. She serves on the Sanilac Career Center Health Occupations Advisory Board, the University of Michigan FERN Nursing Advisory Board, and participates in the Thumb Community Health Partnership Employer Led Collaborative. This commitment underscores her dedication to strengthening rural healthcare access for years to come.
A Foundation of Faith, Family, and Community
Outside of her professional endeavors, Stoliker prioritizes her faith, family, and friends. She enjoys attending sporting events and supporting loved ones, and with the completion of her master’s degree, looks forward to revisiting hobbies and exploring modern interests.
