Their innovative hybrid propulsion system merges the strengths of solid and liquid propellants, streamlining engine construction and potentially slashing launch costs from the current $32,000 per kilogram to a mere $16,000.

Instead of complex liquid propulsion systems with expensive turbopumps and numerous components, Hybrid Propulsion for Space’s hybrid engines boast a remarkably simplified design with approximately twenty parts. This streamlining not only reduces manufacturing cost but also complexity, potentially paving the way for a more accessible and affordable space industry.

The company’s patented design integrates the oxidizer tank directly into the combustion chamber, optimizing volume and combustion efficiency. This crucial innovation ensures more complete and effective propellant burning, a significant advantage for future space missions.

Independent research by the Centre National d’Études Spatiales (CNES), France’s space agency, has validated the potential of Hybrid Propulsion for Space’s technology.

While promising, the technology requires further demonstration. Full-scale tests are planned for the end of this year, with a suborbital flight in 2025 and an orbital launch in 2026.
