Cláudio Augusto dos Santos, 55, had been a member of the Comando Vermelho for decades and controlled drug trafficking in the Morro dos Prazeres favela in Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro. He was considered one of the most wanted criminals in the state, with at least four arrest warrants issued for crimes including kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment, drug trafficking, and illegal restraint. Details of the Police Operation
The operation involved approximately 150 police officers from the 5th BPM (Praça da Harmonia) and included 14 police vehicles and two armored vehicles.
