Roblox, the online gaming and creation platform, registered losses of 282.77 million dollars (258 million euros) in the second quarter of 2023, which means increasing by 60.3% the ‘red numbers’ recorded by the company in the same period last year, as announced by the multinational.
Roblox said the increase in its losses in the second quarter was due to higher levels of spending needed to support business growth, specifically developer sharing fees, personnel costs, infrastructure and security, in addition to corporate overhead. , has indicated Europa Press.
“Since our investment decisions are generally based on reserve levels, we expect to continue reporting net losses for the foreseeable future,” added the company, whose shares lost more than 20% on the New York Stock Exchange.
Between April and June, Roblox indicated that the average daily active users (DAU) was 65.5 million, up 25% from the previous year, while the monthly average unique paying users was 13.5 million, 19% more. Likewise, the hours dedicated totaled 14,000 million, 24% more than the previous year.
In this way, in the first six months of 2023 the platform registered losses of 551 million dollars (502 million euros), 63.7% more than the adverse result of 336 million dollars (306 million euros) of the first half of 2022.
