Monaco’s Rose Ball Celebrates 70th Anniversary with Futuristic Galaxy Theme

Monaco’s annual Rose Ball, a glittering charity event benefiting the Princess Grace Foundation, marked its 70th anniversary on Saturday, March 21, 2026, with a futuristic “Galaxy” theme. The event, held at the Salle des Étoiles at Sporting Monte-Carlo, drew members of the Princely family, international high society, and notable figures from the worlds of fashion and entertainment.

A Family Affair

Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco led the Princely Family at the event. Princess Caroline of Hanover, chair of the Princess Grace Foundation, was also in attendance, alongside her children Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo, and Princess Alexandra of Hanover. Princess Akiko of Mikasa of Japan also joined the festivities, having inaugurated a Japanese cultural event at the Grimaldi Forum earlier that day. Notably absent were Princess Stéphanie and her children, as well as Charlotte Casiraghi and her family.

Galaxy-Inspired Spectacle

This year’s Rose Ball transformed the Salle des Étoiles into a spaceship, featuring luminous portholes, immersive sound effects, laser games, and kinetic lighting designed to simulate space travel. The artistic direction was led by Christian Louboutin for the third consecutive year, with support from Benoît Miniou.

Entertainment and Guests

The evening’s entertainment included performances by Rondò Veneziano, the Crazy Horse of Paris, the Ballet Kalinka, and the Berlin company Dulce Compania. Choreographers Céline and Cain Kitsaïs presented a dance and stage effects number, while Leee John with Imagination performed soul, jazz, and British funk. DJ Josh Quinton closed out the night. Among the many photographed guests were Lady Kitty Spencer, Carlos de Borbón Dos-Sicilias with Camila, Shirley Bassey, and Charles Leclerc with his wife, Alexandra, making their first public appearance as a married couple.

A Legacy of Philanthropy

Created in 1954 by Princess Grace of Monaco, the Rose Ball has served as a key fundraising event for the Princess Grace Foundation, supporting humanitarian programs for children in need, including equipping pediatric units in French hospitals. Princess Caroline assumed chairmanship of the foundation following her mother’s death in 1982, a role she continues to hold alongside her brother, Prince Albert, who serves as vice chairman. The ball continues to be a symbol of glamour and a cornerstone of the Monegasque social calendar.
