Boston College Women’s Rowing Finishes 14th at Head of the Charles

Boston College’s Women’s Championship Fours (champ 4+) boat finished 14th out of 22 crews at the 60th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday, October 19th.Despite the result not meeting expectations, Head Coach Grace Hollowell remains optimistic about the team’s potential as they head into the final races of the fall season.

Race Recap

The Eagles completed the challenging 3-mile course in 18:22.695. while the time placed them in the middle of the pack, they demonstrated strong performance relative to several competitors. Boston College finished ahead of Colgate by seven seconds, Boston University by 49 seconds, Rhode Island by over a minute, and Iona by nearly a minute and 20 seconds. They trailed the University of Wisconsin by 10 seconds and Kansas by 13 seconds.

* 2 Seat: Molly Devine

Coach’s perspective

“Not quite the race we were hoping for and that piece isn’t representative of what that crew has put together in training, but sometimes that can be racing,” said Head Coach Grace Hollowell.”This group has done a lot very well in the past 8 weeks, and we are looking forward to showing that speed in the last few races this fall!”

The Boston College Eagles will continue their fall season at the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, new York, on Saturday, October 25th. Source
