Rupiah Expected to Strengthen Against US Dollar
Bisnis.com JAKARTA – The rupiah’s exchange rate against the US dollar is predicted to fluctuate but strengthen to between IDR 16,570 – IDR 16,620 on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
According to Bloomberg data, the rupiah closed slightly lower by 9 points, or 0.05%, to IDR 16,617 per US dollar on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. The US dollar index, however, gained 0.20% to reach 98.86.
Across Asia, currency performance varied. The Korean won saw a slight increase of 0.05%, and the Philippine peso strengthened by 0.70%. Conversely, the Japanese yen and Indian rupee both weakened against the US dollar, falling 0.08% and 0.05% respectively.
Economic, Currency & Commodity Observer Ibrahim Assuaibi noted that global financial markets are keenly awaiting the outcome of the Federal Reserve (The Fed)’s two-day policy meeting, which began on Tuesday, October 29, 2025.
The CME FedWatch tool indicates that markets are almost certain – with a nearly 100% probability – that The Fed will implement a 25 basis point rate cut.This would be the second consecutive cut, following a similar decision made last september.
“Investors are especially focused on guidance regarding future policy directions,” Ibrahim stated on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
